My first camera was a Kodak Brownie Flash 20 (with flashbulbs that sizzled after they popped), which I got on my 9th birthday. I still remember how those smelled and how it felt to roll the film onto the long spool.
During college, I built a darkroom where I developed black-and-white images. For years, I used a Minolta X-700 (35 mm) camera before moving over to digital (and donating the film camera to a high school art department). Now I shoot with a Canon 5D MarkIII and a 7D MarkII (EF50mm; EF85mm; EF70-200mm; EF17-40mm) and do gentle processing in Lightroom.
My photographic work has been published in the L.A. Times, San Francisco Magazine, Smithsonian, Horse & Rider, Click Magazine, Family Dog, Novato Advance, Estuary News, San Francisco Bay Area Independent Media Center, San Francisco Chronicle, Oaklandside.org and Berkeleyside.com. My images have been featured in Senior Guy Style and The 12th Year. One of my images was a Photo of the Year in the 2018 Click Voice Image Collection. Another earned "Special Merit" in the LightSpaceTime 10th "Animal" Art Exhibition in 2020. Five of my images are on display at the My Park Moment exhibit in the San Francisco Presidio.
My passion is photographing people, places, animals and events. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I'll travel just about anywhere for your photoshoot. I specialize in family portraits as well as professional headshots for actors, models, authors and anyone needing an updated photograph for print and electronic media. My rates are extremely competitive. Gentle retouching is included.
